Worming and treating your pets for fleas is crucial to keeping your pets healthy and should be done regularly in order to prevent your pet from becoming infected.

Regarding equine worming, we recommend regular faecal worm egg counts (FWEC) throughout the year to assess which horses actually need worming. We have egg count kits that you can purchase in-store and send off or alternatively you can ask your vet to do a faecal egg count for you. To test for Tapeworm, saliva tests can now be done. Again, you can do this through your vet or direct through Equisal http://www.equisal.co.uk/

We recommend doing FWEC so that you are not worming unnecessarily and to prevent horses building up a resistance to active ingredients used in various wormers.

At The Hungry Horse we are licensed to sell and advise on equine, companion and avian wormers.

As we are a licensed SQP premises we are able to order in various veterinary diets such as Royal Canin and Hills.  We hold regular stocks of popular lines and can accommodate special orders.  These diets must only be fed on the advice and recommendation of your vet.

Our pet’s weight can be a great indicator of their health, so it’s important that we make sure our dog or cat is weighed regularly so weight gain or loss doesn’t go amiss. By monitoring our pet’s weight, we can make sure they remain healthy, prevent problems, and combat obesity.

At The Hungry Horse we have Royal Canin weigh scales permanently in-store for you to use. Just bring your pet along to be weighed.

Like anything a harness will only work well if fitted properly. We have range of different harnesses, so please do bring your dog along for a free fitting and trial in store. That way you can go home having tried the product on your dog, know it fits well and both you and your dog are happy with the harness before purchasing.
